Pure Organic Raw Fruit & Nut Bar Review

While I was at my local grocery store, headed to the check-out, these “Pure Organic” bars caught my eye. Really, any time I see the organic product in the grocery store I get excited, but I do know enough about organic products to know that everything marked organic isn’t necessarily truly organic or healthy. So, I flip the package over and it’s like the gates of heaven opened and the choir began to sing. Here is what caught my attention:

Certified Organic – yeah!

No refined sugar – awesome!

Gluten free – really? In a bar?? Cool!

No preservatives – Get out of here!

Contains nuts…EVERY flavor has protein-rich nuts – and I L.O.V.E. food with nuts.

…as I looked up to see what other flavors there were, I saw a tag hanging on the shelf that said “Made in Michigan”. Seriously?? The deal is sealed…locally produced…look no further.

While the bar has cost me between $1.99 and $2.50 – depending on where I purchase, I do know that money talks. The more consumers spend on organic product, the more stores will realize that it’s what customers want. Increased demand will hopefully bring the price down. So, for the most part, I have stopped trying to be ‘cheap’ when it comes to the organic products I buy…that’s another article that I’ll write about later. Nevertheless, I purchase these bars because of all of the great features it has, regardless of the price. So, you say, get to the nitty gritty…are they good?

There are six tantalizing flavors, and I have had all of them (I won’t even tell you that it’s only been a few weeks that they have been in my life…and I’ve already had a number of them more than once. Keep in mind these bars range around 200 calories each, so I do not eat more than one in a day).

Pure Organic Apple Cinnamon Fruit & Nut BarApple Cinnamon: I am not really a fan of apple baked goods. Things like apple pie, apple fritters, etc. – they just don’t excite me, but I really enjoyed this bar.

Pure Organic Cherry Cashew Cherry Cashew: I absolutely adore cashews…so you could mix it with shoe leather and I’d love it. However, this bar is mixed with yummy dried cherries.

Pure Organic Chocolate Brownie BarChocolate Brownie This was the second bar I tried. I’m not a fan of dark chocolate, but this bar wasn’t bad. If I’m in the mood for a brownie or piece of chocolate cake, I’d substitute this one any day. Plus it has nuts, so it’s got to be good, right?

Pure Cranberry Orange Fruit & Nut Bar Cranberry Orange: What a great mix. I’m not sure what else to say, other than…love this bar too 🙂

Pure Organic Trail Mix Fruit & Nut BarTrail Mix: This was the last bar I tried – and when I bit into it, I liked it to so much that I had to stop what I was doing and actually look at the bar and said “Yum!!” with a “you shouldn’t be this good” look on my face.

Pure Organic Wild Blueberry Fruit & Nut BarWild Blueberry This was the first bar I tried, which is funny because I don’t even like blueberries, but this bar was very good – and I’ve purchased it several times.

I eat the bars as either as a meal replacement or when I absolutely have to have something that feels like cake in my mouth without succumbing to a piece of cake or a candy bar. I don’t eat one every day, but I definitely always keep one in my purse next to my little pouch of organic green tea for those ‘just in case’ moments where I have not prepared for a meal away from home.

While the bars are great, I love the story behind why she started making these bars. I recommend you stop by her site to read the story of how she got started. The bottom line is that I recommend you take a look at the product offering on the Pure Organic Bar website, and the next time you’re in the grocery store, put down that high fat, nutrient-poor, candy bar and try one of the Pure Organic Bars! I’m a very picky eater, so if I like it, you’ll love it!

What are some of your favorite organic snacks? Have you tried Pure Organic Fruit & Nut bars?

I’m SO glad you enjoyed the Cherry Cashew! I’m certain you’ll love most all of the others as well. While I was out of town, I was very saddened that the grocery store I went to had no Pure Organic bars, nor was there anything else like it on the shelf 🙁 Lesson learned…always take a stash with me. I had one, but that was NOT enough. I discovered that the Pure Organic website offers the bars at a lower price than most stores!
